cattle grazing

Halter is coming soon to South Australia.

A new era for South Australia farmers is coming

In February the SA government voted to change their laws to permit virtual fencing of cattle, and is currently drafting new regulations to allow this. Halter is working with the government and industry during this process.

This is great news, and while exact timelines are yet to be announced, we’re hopeful to serve farmers later in 2025!

Farmers in South Australia will soon be able to use virtual fencing technology to boost farm productivity and care for their animals. Farmers in other parts of Australia, NZ and the US have been thriving with this technology for years.

So, why Halter?

  • Increase productivity by increasing pasture utilisation with virtual fencing and herding
  • Significantly reduce labour by automating routine jobs like fencing and shifting animals
  • Care for their animals better with continuous behaviour and location monitoring, and health and fertility alerts, and
  • Be more resilient and flexible to natural disasters like fires and floods

What’s next for SA?

Halter hopes to be available to farmers in SA later in 2025. We'll be working closely with the government to ensure a smooth rollout once this technology is made available.
