Over the past year, we’ve been hearing from Canadian ranchers interested in virtual fencing and its potential to reduce fencing and labor costs. Today, we’re taking a small but important step forward because we’ve been listening.
Halter has begun initial commercial deployments with two Alberta ranching operations, marking our first on-the-ground use of Halter technology in Canada ahead of a future national launch.
Is Halter available in Canada now?
Not broadly just yet.
Halter is currently deployed with two Alberta partner ranches as part of an initial commercial phase. These deployments allow us to operate in real Canadian ranching conditions while working closely with partners to help us ensure our product is worthy of Canadian winters.
At this stage, Halter is not generally available for purchase across Canada. In the meantime, please stay tuned and register your interest below so we can communicate timing with you as we move forward.
Why are only two Canadian ranches getting Halter first?
These early deployments are intentionally limited.
The Alberta ranches working with Halter were selected because they:
- Operate at scale across challenging terrain and climate conditions
- Are experienced operators open to adopting new technology
- Can help us validate performance, operations, and support models specific to Canada
This approach allows Halter to adapt responsibly to local conditions before opening availability more broadly.
Why Canada, and why now?
Canada is a natural next step for Halter.
Canadian ranchers manage large herds, diverse landscapes, and significant fencing and labor demands—many of the same challenges Halter has already helped address in New Zealand, Australia, and the United States.
The current phase is about:
- Learning how Halter performs across Canadian terrain and weather
- Adapting operations, logistics, and support locally
- Making sure we can deliver the same proven economics and reliability before scaling
What does this mean for Canadian ranchers today?
For now:
- Availability is limited
- There is no nationwide rollout date to announce yet
Looking ahead:
- These initial deployments are the foundation for a broader Canadian launch
- Expansion will happen thoughtfully, as we gain experience in local conditions
We’ll share more as timing for broader expansion becomes more defined.
When will Halter be available more widely in Canada?
We don’t have a firm timeline to announce yet. Watch this space!
Halter plans to continue working closely with Canadian partners, evaluate results from these early deployments, and determine the right timing and scope for a wider rollout.
When availability expands, it will be communicated directly and clearly.
Can you share any information about possible pricing in Canada?
We’ll share pricing and commercial terms as availability expands. Right now, we’re focused on making sure the product and support model are a strong fit for Canadian operating conditions before scaling more broadly.
How can I stay informed or express interest?
If you’re a Canadian rancher interested in Halter, we’d love to hear from you.
You can:
- Visit www.halterhq.com and use the contact us form
- Or email contact@halter.co.nz and let us know
While we can't promise immediate availability, registering interest helps us understand demand and keep you informed as plans develop.
A deliberate first step
These Alberta deployments represent a measured, practical entry into Canada, not a full market launch. Our goal is to build a strong foundation as we grow technically, operationally, and in partnership with ranchers, before scaling further.
We appreciate the interest and patience from the Canadian ranching community and look forward to sharing more when the time is right.
