Leadership and governance

Key leaders within Halter, supported by external advisors, ensure that Halter’s system continues to protect and advance animal welfare standards, and continues to comply with animal welfare legislation in the markets that Halter operates.

This leadership contingent includes those responsible for the Halter system, training, and animal welfare safeguards, working closely with Halter's external independent animal welfare advisor, veterinarian Dr John Hellstrom ONZM. Whilst Halter is fully responsible for its system, these leaders also benefit from an open line of communication with Halter’s Veterinary Advisory Board (see section 2), allowing for relevant insights on animal health and welfare to be shared as topics arise.

These leaders convene as needed to discuss research, issues and opportunities relating to animal welfare and Halter’s system and products. Open communication is maintained between Halter’s internal subject matter experts and external, independent advisors in animal welfare. This core group is also supported by a crisis response team within Halter who, if required, would meet urgently in response to an animal welfare matter requiring immediate attention, advice and resolution.
